- Gus Steve Pastis

Gus Steve Pastis passed away peacefully on March 10, 2016 at the age of 86. A San Marino, California resident for almost 50 years, Gus was born on January 10, 1930 in Akron, Ohio to Sarandos (Steve) and Pana Pastis.
In 1945, the Pastis family moved from Akron to Cleveland, Ohio, where Gus graduated from John Marshall High School. He attended Baldwin College in Berea, Ohio, before enlisting in the United States Army and serving as a sergeant in post-war Germany.
When his military service was complete, Gus returned to his family, which by this time had moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He worked as a cook at the Busy Bee Restaurant, which his father co-owned.
Gus met Vivian Tripodes at a Pan-Icarian dinner-dance in Los Angeles, and they married in July of 1952. The young couple started a home in Phoenix, Arizona, where their son, Steven, was born in February 1954. Their daughter, Pamela, was born in Alhambra, California in June 1957.
Gus started his career in law enforcement as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff in 1956. After studying criminology at what is now California State University Los Angeles, he became a chief investigator for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Gus was a long-time member of Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Pasadena, California. He spent many happy days during his retirement
on the links at the Brookside Golf & Country Club in Pasadena. He and his wife, Vivian, enjoyed traveling together, often to Laughlin or Las Vegas.
Gus is predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Vivian Pastis, and a grandson, Constantine Pastis. He is survived by his adoring children, Steve Pastis (April) and
Pamela Buzas (John); two grandsons, Nicholas Buzas (Danielle) and Lucas Pastis; and one great-grandson, Hudson Buzas, who became the highlight of his nal years. Gus is also survived by two brothers, Tom Pastis and Arry Pastis (Leah), and by many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, godchildren and friends.
